Apple is developing a cheaper external display to replace the Thunderbolt display

Apple has begun early development of a lower-priced external display, which will be sold with its high-end Pro Display XDR. This display will be the successor to Apple’s previous Thunderbolt display, which is more consumer-oriented rather than professional. The Thunderbolt display was launched in 2011, priced at $999 , and was discontinued in 2016.

Compared with Pro Display XDR, Apple’s new low-cost display has lower brightness and contrast, while Pro Display XDR sells for up to $4,999
