Original title: can the “ambition” of astronomical town be realized?
Guiyang, January 28 (Xinhua) by Chang’e road and sun moon bridge, relying on the science popularization base of China’s sky eye, this small town is positioned as a “world-class astronomical town”, and the data processing center covering the whole life cycle of China’s sky eye will soon be located here. Can its “ambition” be realized?
Astronomical town has a long history of ambition. As early as 2009, when the detailed survey of “China’s Tianyan” site was drawing to a close, at the comprehensive strategic cooperation forum between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guizhou Provincial People’s government, the Institute of Geographical Sciences and resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guizhou Provincial Tourism Administration reached a cooperation intention to plan a popular science tourist attraction in hanglong village, Kedu Town, Pingtang County, taking the “China’s Tianyan” project as a demonstration area.
After the completion and opening of “China’s eye of heaven”, there will be a “golden period” of 20 to 30 years’ achievements. Adhering to the guidance of “science and technology first”, Guizhou Province gives up the development of tourism with considerable “ticket economy”, actively limits the current, optimizes the planning scheme, avoids the core area of electromagnetic wave quiet area, and creates an international astronomical popular science tourism belt integrating astronomy popular science, research education, universe exploration, tourism vacation and cultural exchange.
Tianshu, Tianxuan, Tianji, Tianquan, Yuheng, Kaiyang and Yaoguang. The hotel has a dining space named after the Big Dipper. The three squares of the eye of the universe, Galaxy performing arts and star greeting are arranged in turn along the Bawang river. The town is full of a sense of technology and future: Astronomical Experience Hall, time tower, Tianmu street, narendong memorial hall, star home, hanglong Bay, astronomical time village, roadside landscape lights are shaped like flying saucers, telescopes, satellites, etc When the night shrouds, look up is the vast starry sky.
The astronomical elements of the town have absorbed the Chinese people’s imagination of the universe since ancient times, and have also become a delicious “seasoning” for scientific enlightenment education and academic exchange activities. According to the person in charge of China Tianyan science popularization base, relying on the facilities of “China Tianyan” and astronomy Town, research and study travel courses and astronomy science popularization summer camp are popular. So far, more than 5000 batches and 100000 person times of research and study teams have been received. Over the years, including the international radio astronomy forum sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, more than 100 academic exchange activities have been held in hanglong astronomy town.
Recently, Pingtang County allocated 20000 square meters of construction land free of charge for the construction of “China Tianyan” data processing center project. The project belongs to the experimental research platform of space science and applied technology of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is reported that it can meet the data storage and processing needs of the whole life cycle of the “Chinese sky eye”.
In the 007 movie “golden eye”, which was shot more than 20 years ago, there is such a scene: the hero and heroine slide from the edge of a metal “big pot” to the “bottom of the pot”, and the scene is taken by the Arecibo radio telescope in the valley of Puerto Rico.
The “ambition” of astronomical town is to jump out of such a tourism development mode, not simply rely on making some movies and doing some popular science to attract tourists to “punch in”, but to do a good job in the linkage of scientific research, academic exchanges and popular science education, and to open up a scientific and technological growth point for local economic development on the premise of protecting “China’s heavenly eye”.
