IC Insights predicts that 70% of China’s chip self-sufficiency rate in 2025 will be difficult to achieve

Relevant data released by China shows that China’s chip self-sufficiency rate will reach 70% by 2025. However, IC Insights predicts that by 2025, China-made integrated circuit manufacturing will only account for 19.4% of the overall domestic integrated circuit market, which is far below the 70% self-sufficiency target.

In 2020, China’s integrated circuit production accounted for 15.9% of the domestic US$143.4 billion integrated circuit market, which was higher than 10.2% in 2010, which was 10 years ago. IC Insights predicts that this share will increase by an average of 0.7 percentage points per year starting in 2020, and will increase by 3.5 percentage points to 19.4% by 2025.
