Beijing, January 14 (Wang Zi) – a few days ago, according to the data released by China Automobile Circulation Association, in December 2020, the transaction volume of the second-hand car market in China was 1.779 million, with a month on month growth of 8.52% and a year-on-year growth of 1.27%; in 2020, the total number of second-hand cars traded in China was 14.3414 million, with a year-on-year decline of 3.90%, and the decline has been within 4%. The transaction amount was 888.837 billion yuan, down 5.0% from last year.
From the perspective of the main trading models in the second-hand car market, in 2020, a total of 8.5868 million basic passenger cars were traded, a year-on-year decrease of 0.32%; 1.3707 million SUVs were traded, a year-on-year decrease of 7.44%; 8319 million MPVS were traded, a year-on-year decrease of 13.09% A total of 339300 cross passenger cars, 1233700 buses and 1326100 trucks were traded, with a year-on-year decrease of 9.16%, 12.73% and 3.11% respectively.
In terms of regions, East China accounted for more than one-third of the total, trading 4.7912 million vehicles, accounting for 33.41% of the national trading volume. The second was Central South and southwest China, with 3.9366 million and 1.9879 million vehicles respectively, accounting for 27.45% and 13.86% of the national trading volume. The three regions together accounted for 74.72%. North China, Northeast China and Northwest China traded 1.883 million, 1.067 million and 7361 million vehicles respectively, accounting for 13.13%, 7.02% and 5.13% of the national trading volume.
From the perspective of vehicle age, in 2020, a total of 3.4293 million used cars aged less than 3 years were traded, accounting for 23.91% of the total trading volume; 5.4163 million used cars aged 3-6 years were traded, accounting for 37.77%. Although the year-on-year decrease was 3.41 percentage points, it still accounted for the largest proportion; the proportion of 7-10 years and more than 10 years of vehicle type transactions increased by 1.82 percentage points and 2.47 percentage points respectively.
In 2020, the total number of second-hand cars will be 3.938 million, accounting for 27.46%, down 0.41% compared with the same period last year. In December, the proportion of second-hand cars transferred to other countries was 28.88%, reaching a new high this year. The cross regional circulation was significantly better than that of last year, with an increase of 3.77 percentage points over the same period of last year. With the improvement of epidemic prevention and control and the continuous promotion of returning to work and production, the cross regional circulation showed a slow growth trend from the second quarter, which was better than the same period of last year for six consecutive months from July to December.
