Ministry of industry and information technology: 9.4 million users across the country have completed “number carrying network transfer”

Beijing, July 8 (Zhao Chao) – the information and communication administration of the Ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT) held a teleconference on service supervision of “network transfer with number” in Beijing, according to the website of MIIT today. The meeting pointed out that at present, the “number carrying network transfer” service across the country is generally stable, the number of users applying for service has increased rapidly, and the “number carrying network transfer” service has been provided for 9.4 million person times.

According to the relevant person in charge of the information and communication administration of the Ministry of industry and information technology, there is still a certain gap between the “number carrying network transfer” service and the user’s expectation in terms of ideological understanding, action implementation and capacity-building. All relevant units should take full responsibility and thoroughly investigate the service problem of “number carrying and network transferring”. On July 2, the national “number carrying network transfer” service supervision system was officially launched, providing strong technical support for the active detection of violations.

According to the data released by the Ministry of industry and information technology, as of the end of May this year, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecom enterprises was 1.592 billion, and the carrying rate of the whole country is 0.59%. This is basically consistent with the previous prediction of “carry over rate will be between 0.3% and 0.5% by China information and Communication Research Institute”.

It is understood that this meeting is the fifth national regulatory work meeting since the “number carrying network transfer” was officially implemented in November last year. From November 27, 2019, the number carrying network transfer service will be officially provided nationwide. According to the policy, eligible users are free to choose mobile, Unicom, telecom and other operators, and the number remains unchanged. In addition, telecom operators shall not interfere with users’ independent choice.
