The first crew members of China space station are focusing on extravehicular activities

China News Agency, Beijing, February 16 (Guo Chaokai) – a reporter learned from China’s manned space engineering office on the 16th that at present, the first group of astronauts carrying out the manned mission in the construction stage of China’s space station has entered the stage of intensive sprint training; after one year’s hard training, they have basically completed the scheduled subject training, and are focusing on extravehicular activities and other training.

According to the mission plan for the construction of the space station, China will continue to carry out 11 missions this year and next, and complete the construction of the space station in orbit around 2022, so as to achieve the mission goal of the third step of the three-step development strategy of China’s manned space project. At present, China’s manned space project has been fully transferred to the mission preparation stage of space station construction. The development of the core module and other sections of the space station is progressing smoothly. The space application system is developing the scientific experiment facilities of the space station and demonstrating the application tasks in the operation stage.

The Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and technology group is responsible for the research and development of manned spacecraft such as the space station. At present, the general assembly and ground equipment deployment of large and small combined sections are in orderly progress. After the space station core module launch site test team entered the field, they fought continuously. At the same time, the flight control test team also entered the intense sprint preparation stage.

The first Academy of CASC is responsible for the development of Long March 2F, Long March 7 and long march 5B launch vehicles. During the Spring Festival, the type III launch vehicle team carrying out the space station mission is still fighting in the front line of engineering development, orderly pushing forward and completing various tasks as planned. At present, the long march 2F, yao12 and yao13 launch vehicles carrying out the Shenzhou 12 and Shenzhou 13 missions are ready to launch. The Long March 7, yao3 launch vehicle carrying out the Tianzhou 2 cargo spacecraft launch mission is in full assembly. The long march 5b, yao2 launch vehicle carrying out the nuclear core module launch of the space station, is on the way to the launch site during the Spring Festival.

At the same time, the Chinese Astronaut Research Center is actively preparing for the mission of the space station. At present, the first group of astronauts carrying out the manned mission in the construction stage of the space station has entered the stage of intensive sprint training. After a year of hard training, we have basically completed the scheduled subject training, and are focusing on extravehicular activities and other training. Wenchang launch site test team has entered the field to carry out the task; Jiuquan launch site test team has basically completed the task preparation, ready to go.

At present, the mission products of space application system core module have passed the factory evaluation successfully. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the space station mission and the development and test mission, while doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control, the space application system researchers are still busy in the front line of the launch site, striving for the “super mission” of China’s manned space “eleven times in two years”.
